Following twenty-six years as a top-rated trial and appellate litigator, he was chosen in 2000 by the Attorney General of California to create and run the professional development and training program for the Department of Justice.

He has personally delivered scores of training programs himself, and has developed curricula for many programs which have been delivered by others.

He is admitted to practice before the United States and California Supreme Courts, is the coauthor of three books published by the University of California’s Continuing Education of the Bar (California Trial Practice, Civil Procedure During Trial and Government Tort Liability) and recently authored a well-received series of articles on applying adult learning theory to the training of lawyers, which were published by the Professional Development Quarterly.
